Anxiety Interventions
Summary
EMDR, otherwise known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a commonly used mental health intervention that is often used to treat and lower anxiety and PTSD. Bilateral stimulation (BLS) is coordinated movement or sound delivered to both the right and left sides of the body. We are working to see whether BLS can lower a person’s anxiety levels when they’re completing a task. To assess any changes that occur for people who received BLS versus those who did not, the research team is using the STAI-Y form. This form is used to understand and compare two types of anxiety in adults. State anxiety, happens for shorter periods of time, and trait, which occurs for longer periods of time.
How does Nuerohue plan to use the data from this research?
Findings from this study can help us better understand the impact of BLS in other technology- based health interventions.
Data from this research will be used to evaluate the following:
- How well the intervention produced a measurable change in feelings of stress and anxiety.
- he success of audio BLS in reducing anxiety within context-specific interventions (such as completing a task).
- Identify areas of improvement for mental health intervention design.
We are currently set to run this study summer of 2022. We are currently finalizing project design and participant recruitment.
